Margeride
The Margeride
It is a mountainous massif located between Cantal, Haute Loire and Lozère. The Margeride Mountains stretch for more than 60 km and form a backbone oriented north-west / south-east. The altitude of this granite massif varies between 1000 and 1500 m, its highest point being the Truc de Fortunio (1552 m). These highlands of the Massif Central are characterized by their wilderness character with landscapes sometimes of pastures, dense forests, moors, peat bogs, chaos of granite ... In winter, the conditions are sometimes harsh but it is also a favourite destination for northern activities.
In Margeride, you can go hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and in winter, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or cross-country skiing.
